One of the most famous desert landscapes in the world, Wadi Rum is truly stunning.
Although you can do a day visit, staying overnight in one of the many camps is certainly advised just to sit and look out over the rippling sand dunes under a star studded evening sky.
The protected area covers 74,200 hectares and is full of historical significance and perfect for hiking and climbing trips.
Many movies have been filmed here, the latest being Dune in 2020. The most famous was Lawrence of Arabia in 1962 and in real life T E Lawrence stayed in Jordan for some time particularly Wadi Rum.
There are only a couple of luxury camps but most offer true Bedouin hospitality.
