The Dead Sea is actually a land-locked lake with Jordan on its east coast and Israel and the West Bank on its west coast. It is also the lowest point on earth and one the world’s saltiest bodies of water. Popular for its medical properties it is thought to be the first health resort and was visited by King Herod and Cleopatra.
As the lake is literally dying due to lack of water it is certainly a must do experience to cover yourself in mud, take a selfie and then float in the Dead Sea remembering not to touch your eyes or drink it!
You can also buy numerous Dead Sea products throughout Jordan, many will make you 5 years younger in weeks! Actually some of them are really nice products to use even if they do not have the desired turn back time effect.
There are a number of good hotels on the shoreline including large 5 star options with spas. You are also close to the border crossing with Israel making it a perfect place to do a one day tour of Jerusalem or as a convenient starting point for a two centre tour.
